Footpaths closed by HS2

WEN/37/1 - Bowood Lane - TLE/3/1 is now the only open footpath between South Heath and Wendover. It is supervised by HS2 security staff where it crosses the works. Leather Lane is closed completely, and Bowood lane closed to vehicles, untill late 2026. Rocky Lane is open, although the upper section, a sunken lane, lacks any footway and is not recommended for walkers.

Access to Wendover from the valley is now difficult due to the lack of provision for walkers or cyclists through the HS2 works at Smalldean on the A413, and the closure of Smalldean Lane which provided a way to avoid the dangers. See the Misbourne Greenway page for the unsatisfactory alternatives.

Following the closure of GMI/2, the Chiltern Heritage Trail is now diverted down Frith Hill - see this page for details. The Chiltern Way diversion is unchanged.
